Harouna Samake & Carolina Vallejo, Bamako, Mali 2018
ART & MUSIC
As beloved and missed Mr. Andy Palacio stated in his winner speech at Womex in 2007, I too believe in music with a higher purpose that goes beyond simple entertainment. That of transmitting a culture or ideas, of preserving values of traditions, renewing them in personal ways, being a way of expressing all parts of humans history, present situation and visions. Music is a bearer of messages and transmits feelings of inclusion, awareness, consciousness, protest and love. And music is, as all artistic behaviour, a way to express freedom.
Carolina Vallejo, One World
Danish-Greek artist, producer and music manager Carolina Vallejo, is the founder of the music production company One World Records and of the jewellery gallery Aurum CPH. Vallejo has collaborated with Amnesty International, Centre for Culture & Development, Images Festival, Unicef, British Council, Danish Church Aid, UN Denmark, The Royal House of Denmark, The Danish Institute of Human Rights, CPH DOX Film Festival, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several Embassies around the world, The Music Conservatories in Copenhagen and Aarhus, and many more institutions, developing projects and producing conferences, concerts and master classes. She uses art as a tool transmitting and educating culture, ideas, values, traditions, society and visions, including political protest and statements. Carolina started as musician and concert organiser at the age of 14, and changed to art at 20. With a successful career in arts & design, winning more than 30 awards for international exhibitions, and almost 40 grants & awards for her music productions. Although she no longer plays music herself, she continues working with music, as a live concert producer and project developer, aiming to transmit inclusion, awareness, consciousness, protest, freedom and love.
CAROLINA VALLEJO RELIQVIUM
In her Awarded book Reliqvium, Carolina Vallejo describes her thoughts on creation in an ever challenging world full of the contradictions between evil and good.
Fabulous, amazing, fascinating and enchanting. Horrifying, groundbreaking and grotesque. The most cutting-edge and innovative Danish jewellery artist Carolina Vallejo received with this book the Danish Crafts Book Prize. The book is an aesthetic journey that takes readers through the 7 sins of death to the world of virtues, where Mikkel Heriba's photograph complemented by Morten Agergaard's understated arrangement, all in close production and styling by the author, with an immediate ease understands to serve the texts of this political, spiritual and cultural historical manifesto, in both Danish, English, Spanish and Greek.Just as the book's reproductions, print, paper and binding, right up to the silver cut in the front of the book are of the highest quality, just as competent are the book's texts written by Carolina Vallejo, Ramón Puig Cuyas, Henrik Most and accurately and sensitively translated by W. Glyn Jones and Per Aage Brandt.
